About

Portuguese soprano Mariana Rodrigues recently completed her postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, with a full scholarship under Marie Vassiliou, Raymond Connell, James Baillieu, Joseph Middleton and Philip Sunderland. A soloist for Academy Song Circle, Academy Voices, Resounding Shores and Bach in Leipzig, Rodrigues has won the Isabel Jay Memorial Prize, Edna Bralesford Vocal Prize and Regency Award.
Recent engagements include Sir John Clerk’s solo cantata with Dunedin Consort and Billy Cowie’s song cycle live premiere with Chantefable.
Recent festival appearances include Bachcelona, Bloomsbury, Baroquestock, Islington, and Vilalte.
During 2025/2026, she is a BREMF Emerging Artist, James Bowman Young Artist with Vache Baroque, Young Artist for Bachcelona AKADEMIE with Lluís Vilamajó and Paul Agnew, and Concertist Fellow with Oxford Bach Soloist.

Royal Albert Hall presents Classical Coffee Mornings: Chantefable

Chantefable is a one-of-a-kind song and story experience developed by vocalist Mariana Rodrigues and keyboardist Andrew Cowie, who combine vocal music and spoken poetry together with improvised music. In addition to this, they will also perform pieces by Elgar, Britten, Liza Lehman and more.

One-of-a-kind song and story experience Chantefable will be performing an additional, relaxed recital in the afternoon of Sunday 28 September. Royal Albert Hall has a laid-back attitude at Classical Coffee Relaxed – customers are welcome to move around, make noise, clap along, and enjoy themselves in whatever way feels most comfortable. The less formal environment may particularly benefit autistic people, those with learning disabilities, those with dementia, or anyone who may prefer coming to our venue with additional measures in place.
